gsynaptics software package provides configuration tool for pointing devices (transitional package), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gsynaptics
gsynaptics is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gsynaptics package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gsynaptics *
You will get with gsynaptics package name, version, architecture and description in a table
